Tips for constructing the Fly Foot block that we'll be drawing for at the October meeting.
From the background fabric cut eight 4¼" squares. From the navy fabric cut four 4¼" squares. From the wine fabric cut four 4¼" squares.
Cut all of the squares along one diagonal.

Sew the triangles together to form eight navy/background half-square triangles (HST's), and eight wine/background HST's. Trim each HST to measure exactly 3½" square.
Here is the layout of the block. Notice it's made up of four 4-patches.

Sew each of the 4-patches together, pressing the seams in a counter-clockwise direction as you're looking at the wrong side of the block.

Now we just have a larger 4-patch. Again sew the four squares together pressing the seams in a counter-clockwise direction as you're looking at the wrong side.

Is that a quick and easy block, or what!
Here's a possible on-point layout.
