Opportunity Quilt Winner
On Sunday, January 27th (the day after our quilt show), I took a drive up to Wasco to present our beautiful opportunity quilt to Mrs. Florence Hester, the lucky winner.
Florence is a CPQ guild member and has been since 1984. She was so thrilled to be the winner, and as I unfolded the quilt to show her again how beautiful it is, she told me she got chills just looking at it.
Florence was born in Wasco and has lived in her same home there in Wasco for the past 45 years. It’s a lovely home, and she has a great sewing room upstairs, which she graciously showed me.
When I left Florence and the quilt, I felt a little tightness in my heart at the thought of losing our opportunity quilt. But I also felt very happy that our beloved quilt will have a good home with a quilter who truly appreciates it.
Congratulations Florence, and thanks for doing your part as a guild member by buying your $20 worth of tickets. It really paid off. And thank you to all the guild members who bought and sold so many tickets. This is a great success story for the guild and we will all benefit from the money that was earned because it will help fund our upcoming speakers and workshops, and many other guild endeavors.
