ur September Program and 2 day workshop is a mystery! Seriously, it is a mystery….quilt, that is! We are pleased to bring Cathy Farriscathyfarris www.cathyfarrisquilts.com to our Guild for lectures on Thursday and a 2-day workshop to construct a 72x72 mystery quilt. Cathy started quilting in 2002 after the death of her son. She found quilting soothing and healing during this difficult time of her life. In 2003, she attended Road to CA and was completely hooked. Cathy considers herself a traditional quilter but loves the play of colors and design. She enjoys teaching, long arm quilting and designing. Cathy has had one quilt juried into Road to CA and has had several award winning quilts in the Best of the Valley quilt show. She won Best of Show for Long Arm Quilting in 2010. Her current teaching schedule includes two mystery classes at Road to CA 2011.

In our two day workshop you will get the majority of the quilt top complete! Cathy sent us fabric color options and several guild members are sharing their fabric choices during guild meetings. There is still space available in this exciting workshop. Contact CeCe Westerfield, This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Signups are being taken now for the October workshop featuring Charlotte Rogers (Color Pizazz and Power Cutting II). Charlotte will be teaching a technique class called Curves and Circles on Saturday, October 23, at the Clubhouse in the Royal Palms Mobile Home Park. If you are a traditional quilter and would like to move into art quilting but fusing makes you uncomfortable, this is the class for you! Working with curves and circles, all pieced, you will create a work of art. A sample quilt is available during the guild meetings.  Click here to download the supply list .

Our October program will feature Pat Knoechel from Quilt in a Day. Quilt Blocks on American Barns will be the topic of her presentation. She always brings her wonderful smile along with ingenious quilting designs.

The November program will be the Country Store Sew-In. The Program Committee will have three simple projects to construct so plan to bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies. Cindy Seitz-Krug will be teaching a Trapunto by Machine workshop on Saturday, November 20, location to be determined. This class is full; however, you can put your name on the waiting list in case someone is unable to attend.  Click here to download the supply list 72.58 Kb . Stop by the Program table and see the beautiful sample we have on display.

We will end 2010 with our annual Christmas Party. We hope that all our Friendship Groups will join in the friendly challenge to put together baskets full of wondrous items to be raffled off during the Christmas party.

The Program/Workshop Committee consists of CeCe Westerfield, Joan Millsap, Bob Miller, Carol Smith and Nancy Montague. Please feel free to pass on any ideas, suggestions for prospective lecturers and/or workshop teachers to any member of the committee.

Happy quilting to you all!
