I don't know about the rest of you, but I am beginning to think old age is for the birds, and if one has a broken leg and cannot stand up long enough to cut, iron and put together quilt blocks, then one better find something to do sitting down. Cheryl Williams said, if you can't stand up to work, then it is time to appliqué. Right you are Cheryl!! Guess I had best dig out my stuff and get to work. I have a quilt to "hand quilt" as soon as my good buddy Jennifer and helper gets it pressed and pinned for me. Thanks ladies. What would I do without help from my friends? I really appreciate you. This morning, I think I will take my string scraps and make a few more 8-1/2" blocks on scrap paper for a string quilt, and maybe even turn some into some new pot holders. Mine are getting a little the worst for wear.
Thanksgiving this year found us giving thanks for some of the things we don't have. Like the "flu"... Jack ended up with pneumonia and is taking two different medications to try to overcome that. I am thankful I didn't break my arm (even though the leg is healing, I am still using a walker to get around) and I use my arms a lot these days. Thanks to Bob and the Sunshine Team for the nice cards he sent me. How did you know I love humming birds? Prayers sustain me in times when I cannot be among my friends.
I welcomed our rain last night and am happy to see the sun shining today. My lawn is covered with gold leaves from my liquidambar tree and I think it is beautiful. My gardener may not agree, but I enjoy seeing the fall colors and pretty leaves on the lawn. Maybe it will inspire me to do another maple leaf quilt, who knows?
I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving week and are surrounded with those you love. I hope to see you in January and get back into my normal routine. Blessings to all. Roberta
